Watch the first 10 min now and you might not want to watch later. Once they have the get together party at one of the homes it just seems to fit the tone of them going on this voyage to the moon. Of course being more then 200,000 miles away with a spacecraft in need of serious repair and hope to get home before all systems fail. What a tragedy that would have been.

Movie Quiz for 05-17-2024- With Extra movies and Entertainment

It's difficult to say what makes this such a great film - perhaps it is the idea that it "really happened", and that someone can look at a history book, then at the film, and see an overall reality. Some might say they love it just for the effects; but I believe that it has a great story, and a perfect selection of actors, perfectly cast.
The most wonderful thing about this movie is that it encompasses so many parts and peoples, and appeals to so many, that by the last reel you feel that if they don't make it through, you have lost some of your closest friends.
Surely in ones top 250 if not 100 along with 2 Oscars and a cast 2nd to none.
In short: a masterpiece.
Guess this sensational movie but before you watch . Grab some popcorn and your favorite drink to wash it all down. You'll be there to the end.

Fabulous clips! I love the “I’ve Got A Gal In Kalamazoo” clip from the movie “Orchestra Wives”. Marion Hutton’s shoulders get a good work out while she is singing along with Tex Beneke. Jackie Gleason and Cesar Romero are in the orchestra. I’ve always loved Louis Prima and Keely Smith. I think they were still married in the clip. Very entertaining. I think they would have been fun at a party. The Maltese Falcon is such a good noir. Every role is perfection. Always watch when it shows up on TCM. I think I saw Backfire years ago but can’t be sure. 🤔 It seems to me it had a complicated plot. I have always gotten a kick out of the “Road” movies. Thanks for these..

You shall have more. Though I do not have all the 400+ film noirs that are on IA. I have DL and Uploaded about 50 at this time. I can get those others any time wished. The gentleman who posted them is the top of the heap in Classic movies and actors. Now doing James Stewart which I have many of them already. As for the Noirs he has most every important one there was. I pick through them and present 2-3 each week. He states and also IMDb that Strangers On A Train is noir and ahead of time we are also doing Phantom Lady (1944) Crime--Drama--Film-Noir- B & W- plus Colorized version-- A devoted secretary risks her life to try to find the elusive woman who may prove her boss didn't murder his selfish wife.

Hard to believe some movies did not win the Academy Awards. Double Indemnity beat out by Going My Way. Spell Bound beat out by The Lost Weekend. The Best Years Of Our Lives beating out It's A Wonderful Life and The Killers. That I can see. Casablanca a slam dunk. All About Eve beating out the Third Man and Sunset Blvd. A Place In the Sun beating out The African Queen. The Quiet beating out High Noon. On The Waterfront beating out Rear Window an Sabrina. Also the fact that Hitchcock though nominated many times never won. That's okay because we've got almost all of his flicks. We will have all of Fords movies, William Wyler's, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, Elia Kazan, Joseph L. Mankiewicz, John Huston and the likes. You won't have to wait an Eternity for them to appear on TV. Did you know they used to have a Moscow International Film Festival? Here is one of them if interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5th_Moscow_International_Film_Festival

Some years I think a couple of good ones get cancelled out by a film that is not quite as good. I will check out the Moscow Film Festival.

9/10. They hit you with a hard one right off the bat. Mainly because yes, Don Messick HAS voiced Droopy, but he's not the most well known voice of Droopy, which would be Bill Thompson. In anycase, I missed #3, mainly because I don't think I've seen it.

9/10, I did'nt know that Don worked on "JBTO". I do remember that he voiced Droopy in "Tom & Jerry Kids" & "Droopy Master Detective" (Way after Bill Thompson Died). In "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", Richard Williams (Director of Animation) voiced the dog.
